Samantha Wheeler worked with farmers and taught science before taking up writing in 2011. Her books, which include Smooch & Rose, Wombat Warriors, Mister Cassowary, and Turtle Trackers, have been shortlisted for the Queensland Literary Awards, the Readings Book Prize, The Wilderness Society Environmental Award and the Royal Zoological Society, Whitley Commendation. Her most recent, Everything I’ve Never Said, was awarded a CBCA notable in 2019, and was inspired by her daughter, who has Rett Syndrome and can’t talk.
Samantha lives in Brisbane with her husband, two daughters, and way too many pets, and is the ambassador for Youth Plus, a youth charity which encourages disengaged young people to re-connect with education.
Samantha hopes to inspire everyone to speak up and make a difference.
